Default dead battery

I have a 2003 honda trx 350 fourtrax and theres aomething killing my battery.I tried unplugging lights and ignition but doesn't seem to help.Is there a way to test to see if what could be doing it or if its indeed a short somewhere.Remove neg cable and put meter on DCV and put leads on cable then battery.Put my meter on 20 dcv and got a reading of 10 point something.I started disconnecting every plugin and checking .nothing till I disconnected the panel or "meter".Is it ever possible that it could be this?I left every plugin unplugged and did it and then plugged them all in and the same thing.any advice or know of anyone parting a machine out?

The most common part that could cause this with an guess would be voltage reg./recf,! If your sitting on the atv under the right rear fender is an electical part with air fins on it unplugged it an check your voltage! then leave unplugged over nite to see if batt volts are different..Then get back with us on here and we all will go from there!!

Have you checked the battery itself, how old is it, how long does your ride sit in between runs, possible dead cell in the battery?

Set your meter to amps. A few miliamps is normal.

If it is higher than that, Hondas are generally wired so that the ignition switch kills power to everything, except voltage regulator.

In order of likelihood I would then try disconnecting any aftermarket stuff, then try the regulator, and finally the ignition switch.

I would guess, though, if you got a voltage reading less than battery voltage that the current draw in amps will be very low.

In that case, I would suspect the battery is defective, but I would also check that the charging system is working.
