Default 350 warrior vs 400ex

im looking at a pretty nice 350 warrior for sale. its in great shape and the guy wants it gone. i have been considering a 400ex but this warrior is at a great price. my question is, is the 400ex a better machine? i know that logic would say yes but you just never know. i figured somebody in the honda section would know.
i wouldnt do any serious mods to either. stage one cam, pipe, air cleaner and a rejet for the 400. any ideas? thanks

Try for the 400ex ,it has more power and better suspension. You would have to dump alot of money into a warrior just to make it behave like a stock 400ex.

The Warrior is a nice little performance gain over the 230 in your sig. Likewise the 400 will be a decent performance gain over the Warrior. You don't get reverse on the older EX models, which may be a big deal to you. Otherwise I would go for a 400 all day, because like TLC said, you would need to have some money invested to make a War. perform like a 400ex.

I have a 2003 warrior my wife rides .Its a nice bike for trail riding . It feels heavy in the front end and can be hard to wheelie sometimes . I have rode a 400ex and it seems to be a better all around quad . I dont know what kind of price both quads are but the warrior will never perform or handle like the 400ex . I have a lot of fun riding the warrior it is predictable and the reverse is nice .I like a 300ex better than a warrior they seem lighter and easier to throw around . Ask yourself what type of riding you will be doing ? Around s.w. ohio you can buy a warrior from $1000 to $1700 for a nice one . A 400ex goes anywhere from $1600 to $2500

i love my little 230. its a great little bike. not as fast at top end as others, but i have to sit on the tank to keep the front down through the first 3 gears and at 300 pounds its pretty light. i do mainly trail riding. when did the 400ex start having reverse? you all have answered the question; where the warrior is good the 400ex is worth the extra money. i was leaning toward the 400 but now thats where ill spend the money.
now i have another question. are there any issues with the 400? i know if one puts a pipe and performance filter on, the carb needs rejetting. are there any weak points in the engine or otherwise? thanks a million guys.

They started having reverse with the switch to the 2nd gen body style. They are pretty solid machines, about the only problem I know of is the 440 kits can have reliability issues.

Reverse came along on the 2005 model year.
The 400ex is bulletproof. Keep up on the oil changes and air filter cleaning and it will run forever.
