My dad is looking at winches for his Rancher. Does anyone have suggestions on where would be the best place to shop for one? We both feel that the extra money spent on a Warn vs. another brand would probably be worth it, but he still wants to get the best possible price.

Thanks!

I got my Warn A2000 with a roller fairlead for $250.00 delivered by bidding on E-Bay. The deal is that Polaris and Yamaha at times will offer a $69 winch deal the some dealers will not offer to the customer at the time of purchase of a new quad. They will then buy the winch for themselves at a reduced price. They end up paying about $165 total for the winch (the $69 the customer would have paid PLUS $70 dealer participation fee PLUS $25 shipping) which on the Polaris promotion includes a mounting bracket and roller fairlead. As mine was for a Rubicon I did not have a need for the mounting bracket. I ended up paying $230.00 plus $20 shipping for a total of $250. The dealer I dealt with told me he had about 60 or 70 and he was selling them all on E-bay one at a time. My local Polaris dealer has about 20 of these same winches, but he is trying to get $429 for them. That is not the way to go. You may bid on 3 or 4 to end up with a winning bid that is not close to the price you could pay at ATVpartsdepot or one of the other web retailers. The normal A2000 does not come with the roller fairlead, but you may not find it necessary to have one.

I went to the dealer and inquired if he had any of the 2000Lbs warn winchs that people didn't buy when they could have at $69 and he sold me one of the Yamaha marked ones and a mount for my Rancher and installed by him for $ 367 tax & labor included. I was happy at that price since they installed it also.

On www.highlifter.com there was a guy selling a used Warn 2000 that is still under warranty and included a mount for a Polaris 500 (Might not do you any good but you could probably sell it to someone)and a roller fairlead for $175.00. Go to the Highlifter talk forum and look in the swap shop or do a search for Gregsims.
