Need help with trailer tie down
Just bought a 2013 FrourTrax Foreman Rubicon yesterday along with a 5 x 8 trailer to pull behind my Jeep Wrangler. I bought a new set of ratchet straps and after some frustration with the straps; I was able to tie it down to the trailer today for my first trail ride. It stayed on the trailer fine during the ride to the trails. However, when I loaded it back on the trailer after a day of glorious fun, I had major difficulties with the straps, and they are all in a knotted useless mess now. This has brought me to several questions:
1. What other methods can I use to tie the atv to the trailer besides ratchet straps?
2. I'm thinking of getting the Kolpin Trailer Dog Atv Tie Down(also known as the LA Guard Dog). The floor of my trailer is metal; and I wanted to make sure the trailer dog will still work?
3. I was also wondering if I should consider wheel chocks, and if someone could recommend the best ones?
4. If I do go with ratchet straps, which ones are the best and easiest to use?
5. Could I just use chains with a lock of some type to tie it down?
Thanks in advance for your much needed help!

Yep, ratchet straps are the best thing for me. I bought 2 at tractor supply i just press a button and they will let you unloosen them, press it again and they pull tight, finish tightening with the ratchet. But these are just cheapys dont know if they are to strong, i just use them when i put my quad in the truck bed.
Wheel chocks- i just put mine in gear and tap the starter button to get it up to the rail of the trailer.
For hd straps i went to lowes or home depot and picked up 2 or 3 gigantic ratchet straps for $15 each, cut off all the excess strap, took a match to the end, and works perfect, some of those chinxy ratchet straps are hard to get undone, but these work fine.

This spring I bought a set of spring loaded ratchet straps from Menards, 25 bucks for a set of 4, they pull the slack in under spring tension, you hook one end, open the ratchet handle, pull it out to hook the other end, and then a few ratchets of the handle and its tight, no extra strap flapping in the wind, no threading the end and lining up the slots. Just hook and ratchet. Best money I ever spent.
