Final option is the Four Stroke Tech oil cooler mod. Its a pain to do on an intact motor but it can be done. Its easier if your motor is apart.
I am ordering a SPAL fan today. Was debating on a 6" though and I am going to put a 200 degree switch on it. Probably ordering the dip stick too. I was wondering where people got them from, but this is the first anyone has said.

Do you have pics and instructions about how you did the FST cooler? I want to do one like that but don't want to pay $150 for a $30 cooler kit.

I cant find the instructions on how to do it and what exactly the tap sizes fitting sizes were etc etc. I will try to find em though. They are available from various magazines, just google it. Though each magazine build uses different size fittings. I found that out when I misplaced the fittings and found the item list from dirt wheels magazine. Turns out they used smaller fittings than the FST kit. Woops. lol. I liked the FST kit because it came with everything needed. No guess work and the instructions when I had em were very clear).

The 4" fan fits on the factory cooler alot easier.

Here it is. This oil cooler mod is the right way to do it. Dont do the extra cooler mod that splices into factory cooler. That mod DOES NOT put cool oil back into the head. With the FST kit I dont have to run hardened valves with stage3 hot cam

DUDE!!!! You're AWESOME!!! Do you know how long I have looked for that?!?! LOL Thanks a bunch! Saved a copy and will be doing that in the next couple days!

I did order the Temp Stick for the oil tank but not a fan yet. I was debating on the 6" fan because when I do the cooler mod I can run a bigger fan and I will position it to try and blow through both..... Do you run a oil temp switch or are you just running your fan from a plain switch? I am looking at some 180* inline temp switches and think that will be the way for me to go...

Also been looking at some older race setups and things that I saw about welded on reinforcements. I think I am going to try and do some of that stuff this summer then this winter probably have the frame hot tanked or blasted and have it powder coated over the winter. Going to weld on mounts for the new cooler, I just think the zip strips are a little too cheesey for me. Anything else you recomend?

Your welcome just take it easy with the drilling and tapping. I am not running a fan. I dont need it as my oil temp never went above 260*. The only thing I have is the oil cooler mod. I would just wire it to a switch. 1 its simple and 2 you wont need it unless your standing still. Once you move the coolers take over.
I thought the zip ties were cheesy too but I did them temporary....2 years later they are still holding lol. I got real lazy with making the mounts .

Well my dipstick showed up yesterday, my tool kit, new brake pads, and fittings to install the cooler. I also got a new tank strainer coming, the old one isn't looking so good, and picked up a carb rebuild kit.

Put on the pads last night, and the dipstick, threw the tool kit in the box.

Ordered new front tires too. I hope to take it out tonight for a little more cruise time, still hoping to make it to the Badlands for the trip on the 11-14!!! We will see. I want to get another 4-5 hours ride time on it and change the oil before then. Figure that is when I will install the new cooler and rebuild the carb and such. Hopefully that will be next weekend. We will see.

So when I was out riding this the other day breakin it in I noticed that I had next to no rear brakes and the fronts didn't seem to work for sh!+ either. Ordered up some new pads to throw on and went to work.

Guess the previous owner really got his use outta them old ones....

These were the rears....

True but I would think you would replace them before you get through the metal back plate of the pad..... The rear pads had gotten so hot and wore so thin that they curled up on the edges....

Even with the park brake delete I still go through a set of EBC rear pads a year
