Default 440 mod suggestions???

hello everyone,
im new to DIY on 4 wheelers/quads , i have plenty of experience in the automotive area.

my quad is a 2001 honda 400 ex with a 440 kit 89 mm bore(previous owner) with a domed 12.5:1 wiseco piston, timing chain, tensioner, new valves(me), hotcam not sure what stage(PO) , white brothers exhaust (PO)

history on this quad, i purchesed it on its " 1" tank after break in
after riding about 15 minuites i started to hear a ticking sound at first i thought maybe valves need adjusted, then it started burning oil, and proceeded to get worse, so i tore it down and replaced the valve seals and while i had the head off i noticed where it seemed the valves had been hitting the piston, i can attach pictures for later i believe

im trying to figure out what jets i should run (i dont know if the PO jetted it or not and the previous piston was a flat top not a dome)
the fuel octane i would need to run (compression ratio change)
also if there are any good suggestions for extra oil capacity and or cooling
i heard the 440s run extra hot

Ah more cooling questions! Rotella T6 synthetic oil helps keep things cool. A Four Stroke Tech oil cooler mod helps big time. A Spal 4" puller fan on the factory oil cooler. Run a DZ9 plug. Get a oil tank dipstick gauge from xrsonly.com to keep a tab on temp. More details if you want them or you can check the threads as I posted em elsewhere

I have just found out it has a keihin carb I belive , with 38 and 155 jets what should I change it to?

I Tried to fire it up for the first time today could not get it to start what so ever not even with starting fluid,

It has spark, the plug doesn't smell like its getting fuel, the valves are set to Hondas .004 and .005 spec

Brand new 12.5:1 piston and rings fresh hone on cylinder, 91 octane with a bottle of booster, (airport wouldn't give me av gas)
Any ideas ?
