Alot of time when an engine breaks an value mean jumpped time ..piston hit value or values causing them to bend..you said nothing about cam chain{timing chain} in the rebuild....Have you rechecked the TDC of engine and camshaft timing? Sometimes jumps time when engine is turned off or engine comes to an sudden stop an the torque of the engine and the slack in cam chain can cause jump time..may have jumpped one tooth an thats why compression is still good but this can cause igniton and compression and fuel to be at the wrong time which could cause NO RUN..Just an ideal..go check Top Dead Center of crankshaft, piston and cam shaft to see if still in time...Thanks and Good Luck

The reason im asking bout spark plug an plug is an part of ignition timing...if you just take the plug out an ground on the block doesnt mean plug is good under an combustion load...plugs can break down while inside of combustion chamber, while an engine is turn over trying to crank, pulling fuel and compression and then, values opens and closes the plug can misfire,,just an ideal and trying to help..Also when using an timing light on these atvs you are just checking ignition to flywhaeel timing not crank and camshaft timing..have to tke cylinder head cover off an TDC camsprocket to align marks to crankshaft to make sure both are dead on.Good Luck

In all this thread there is no mention of you cleaning the carb out. If you put in a nice dry plug and it tried to start, it sounds a lot like too much fuel getting into the cylinder, this would explain why starting fluid didn’t work. A loose jet, stuck CD piston or choke device can all cause an excessively rich mixture. Another possibility is the coil or lead not giving enough power to fire the mixture, it may try, but soon “wets” the plug and gives up.
