Gas doesn't have a thing to do with it.

Check your oil and see if it's gas contaminated. White smoke is usually oil burning,greyish/blue is usually rich, gas burning. Plus could be a carb problem and need rebuilt if you find or smell gas in the oil.

It is oil smoke you can smell it. Although it seems to be slacking up. Go to my thread about my cooling fan problem and scroll down and it turns out to be about my smoking problem. Thanks

Ok torn it the top end down. I am going to have to get it bored but I did see that I can get a new sleeve for it for 80 bucks should I just go that way? Hard is it to get the old sleeve out and put the new one in? I would have to drive an hour and a half to get it bored
so I was just wandering. Thanks

How much slack is there supposed to be between the piston and the sleeve? Mine I believe is to tight.

Ok got it all back together and changed the oil with Pennzoil 10-30 and adjusted the valves. And it runs great! But my fuel gauge does not work. Are there any opines on what type of oil to use on the second oil change? Thanks

Don't use car oil as most have additives that cause clutch slip. Several different brands of oil for motorcycle/atv use out there that you can use.

Just use Honda oil, I'm about the change the oil on my 300 fourtrax and that's what I'm using. GN4 10w40. Its not really any more expensive than any other atv oil. It was $7 a quart or $21 a gallon from rocky mountain atv. I just went ahead and got a gallon, 2 gallons will do 3 oil changes on the 300. Got a K&N oil filter, it was actually a little cheaper than the Honda oil filter.
