Skid Plates
#1
I need to get a skid plate for my Rancher and Recon. I want to order them this week so I will have them installed before Turkey season. First off what is the benifit to having them and were can I get them for a good price? I also dont want to put plastic ones on. One more thing. Are they easy to install?
Thanks

I should of known. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The aluninum ones look sharper but the plastic ones are just as tough and being really smooth I think slide through mud and snow better. It should only take about 10 or 15 minutes to install. I stood my 450 S straight up and it was very easy to work on. You bolt it on the bottom first and then have to heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun as you bend the front part up to meat the top holes. I used a propane torch and just kept steady pressure on the front piece and it bent real fast and easy. Just keep the torch moving quickly if you do it this way, it does'nt take much. Also I snugged the bottom bolts up but left them loose enough to slide the plate side to side as I heated it up so I coulkd center it easily when I got the front up. Good Luck.

Slayer,
Thanks for the install tip. You know its little things like this that make this website so great. I agree with you about the looks of plastic VS. aluminum. Also how did you stand the bike up? and is this o.k. I am just woried about fluids such as oil ending up where they shouldnt be.
Thanks A Lot
