Need help here guys, 1986 Honda 200sx $300.00 stuck in nuetral, leaks at front sproket. dont know if runs or not.

2003 Honda Recon 250, needs brakes, battery, and rings. Has not been ran in 2 months. Guy want $350. Not worried about the cosmetics just mechanical/electrical. Not sure which is the best deal.

The recon will be a lot easier to fix. Unless you are very lucky, the gearbox problem on the 200SX will need a lot of work, and spares could be a problem. When fixed, you would have a chain drive quad. Regular cleaning and adjustment is required if you use it much. I don't care for the Recon engine, they vibrate and have a lumpy idle, but travel well for a 2WD bike and are fairly reliable. The back brakes can be tricky to fix if they haven't been apart for a while. Fronts usually just need the adjusters freeing off and de-glazing. New rings or re-bore are fairly easy to do on the Recon.

I agree. The 200sx sounds like it needs a ton of work. The Recon sounds like less work, less parts money, and just a bettor deal. And btw, you should also buy a new seat for he Recon (if that wasn't clear already)
