Ok let me start out with this, we got this back from my fiancee's father...it had issues when we first got it but the kickstart normally worked. I replaced the carb and also replaced the top end....piston etc... Now the kickstart either kicks back at me or is super hard to kick down. I dont know what I did wrong or if something else is wrong that I need to fix. I was just wondering if anyone else would know what to do...its hard considering there aren't a lot of 3 wheeler mechanics around here anymore...

 

The 250ES engine is very similar to the 300 engine and there are many thousands of them still running around. So quad mechanics are used to that engine, though I have never had kick start problems with them, except the one way clutch, which makes the kick start slip, rather than get hard to kick. Without using the de-compressor, the 300s usually are hard to kick anyway, The odd 250 I have worked on have all had a good electric starter, so I never used the kick start. Kicking back can be timing out, or a carb problem.
