Default 2014 Honda Recon electric shift stopped working

I have a 2014 Honda Recon ES 2 wheel drive I just replaced the Shift Sensor and the electric shift still won’t do anything.
I can use the shift bar and manually ride it so the transmission is good.
what should I replace next?
whata the change of me getting a bad shift sensor from the Honda dealership?
What should I do next?
thanks,
Larry

Honda did send out a batch of bad sensors, but that was 10 years ago, they had "made in Mexico" written on them. Is a fault code coming up on the dash? After manually shifting, it will throw a code, but if, as soon as it fails to shift electronically, a Morse type code comes up on the gear display, what is it? In truth the most likely thing to go wrong is the shift motor. I rather think that motor is a pig to get back together though.

I bought a new battery but haven’t put it in yet I may need to go ahead and install the new battery then check and see if replacing the sensor worked.
