Default 2001 Honda Foreman Rubicon blowing main fuse

Hey, new here, hoping someone might help, I have a 2001 500 Rubicon that keeps blowing 30amp main fuses as soon as the fuse is put in. I’m wondering if power is suppose to be going to both 30amp main fuse and 30amp motor fuse all the time? Also where should I start to look? VR was replaced recently, could that be it? The odd thing is it worked fine
sat for a few days. I went to go for a ride and turn the key and no display lit up. Weird

side note it was blowing 15 amp light fuses due to a bad connection at one tail light, I put a 30amp in place of it and fixed the problem but didn’t change the fuse back. Could it be in the lighting harness? Or is that on a different circuit then the main fuse?

thanks for any help!!

You don't mention if the fuse is blowing with ignition on or off. Assuming off, the short has to be in the live from battery to ignition switch, (or switch itself). So check that wire and you will find the fault. The voltage regulator is nearly always the culprit, but you recon to have the fault with it disconnected. Also, if it is blowing the gear motor fuse, that wire too must be shorted out, though it should not get power to blow, until ignition is on. Rodent damage in battery box, or a fretted through loom is usually the cause of a short.

The fuse is blowing with the key off, I’ll check what you mentioned and let you know what I find. Thanks!

Ok
This is mind boggling, with the negative cable off the battery and only the positive cable on I get power to the 30amp main fuse and the 30 amp motor fuse, when I trace the wires from the main fuse it doesn’t go anywhere. I removed the starter solenoid thinking it was that, still the same problem
how can I find out where the draw of power is coming from? I tested all the wires coming from the fuse box only two have constant power. There’s no power going to the VR plug and no power going to any wires on ECM plugs. I’m lost.
