2007 Honda Rancher 420 keeps stalling
#1
About one minute after startup my 2007 420 Rancher stalls out. I have replaced fuel pump, fuel pump relay, battery, spark plug, plug wire, air filter, gas tank, petcock, shift angle sensor, change oil and filter,.. I can sometimes get it to run about a minute longer if i rev it up a little. Last week i got it to drive in yard for a couple minutes up to second gear but when shift to third it would bog down. It will sometimes back fire after dieing( but the spark arrestor is out). Any ideas? when i take the hose ,that runs to the top of the gas tank, off ,is gas suppossed to bubble out the top of the fuel pump where i took it off? when the new fuel pump was installed, two of the hoses were hooked up backwards so i swapped them back around. the one running to the throttle body was not one of them.

Oh dear you have spent a lot and still not got a running bike, far better to have taken it to the Honda dealer in the first place. They could have stuck it on the computer to trace the fault, or may have had exactly the same problem before, so know what is wrong. If you just changed the pump rather than the whole unit, (which is what Honda sells) you could still have a faulty pressure relief valve or have got the new pump in wrong, not sure if you can get it wrong, but a pressure test would tell. Something that Honda dealers do as routine with EFI problems. If you must do it yourself, get the workshop manual and do the EFI tests in it, even tells you how to retrieve the fault codes by jumping the brown/red and green wires of the diagnostic plug together.
