Default 2002 Honda 450s foreman shifting problems

I have a 2002 Honda 450 Foreman foot shift model. I am having trouble with it wanting to up shift hard and down shift hard. Its always had honda atv oil in it. Never have had the clutch to slip or anything. My problem is that the clutch adjustment screw has no effect what so ever on the clutch. I can back it all the way out or run it all the way in and it shifts the same. No slippage in any direction. What could my problem be. Any help appreciated

Well there is something wrong with the adjuster, so probably best to remove the clutch cover and find out what. Get the bike clean, then switch fuel tap off and lift the front vertically until it is sat on its backside. Remove front wheels and any plastics in the way, then remove clutch cover, watch out for the washer on the end of the shift shaft dropping off as you lift the cover off, it has a habit of sticking to the cover, then letting go as you slide the cover out. While in there check the star wheel is tight on the end of the shift drum and the ratchet and pawl mechanism isn't cracked. Fix the adjuster and adjust it properly once the case is back on.
