I am going to restore my dads dirtbike.It is in bad shape the piston has a hole in it,he had it setting in the shop and sawdust got all in the engine,and the air filter is in bad shape.I need some advice on what to do and what r the best mods out there for this bike? I mostly trail ride. Plese email me with any advice at user101@dixie-net.com

the 84' and '85 XR350's were awesome for there time and the 400EX engine is based off it.. its easly worth $1,500

Definitely, find yourself a service manual. If it is in the shape you described you better split the cases and go all the way through it. I am sure it would make a good trailbike. I am sure the suspension isnt up to the modern XRs, but I imagine the engine would provide good trail power.

Look on AL Baker's XRs Only and see if he has any parts for the old XR. Obviously, a big bore, cam, carb, and exhaust would be good places to start.

XR's Only does good work and has excellent customer service each time I have dealt with them...They offer just about everything that you would need, hard parts, engine hop-up kits, suspension tuning...
