All I know is the 400EX will get blown away by a raptor. My friend and I have scrambler 500's and he raced a 400EX stock for stock. He lost of course in top end, but blew the EX away in the take off. He was at least 5 lengths ahead of the EX bofore it caught up and slowly passed him. When My friend races a raptor he gets blown out of the water. He is at least 12 lenghts behind after 100 yards. It was the first time I have ever seen a 400EX race a scrambler and to tell the truth I wasnt't very impressed with its performance considering the weight difference.

Man, a scrambler can not beat a 400ex anywhere in a drag race. I raced my friend on his 2wd scrambler with a K&N power kit, and Supertrapp exhaust system. as soon as start, I slowly pull away from him, and when I hit 4th, I am gone. Top speed is fairly close though. My 400ex is stock, except 22" tires which would slow it down. we both weigh 175lbs(plus 5-10 with riding gear) A lot of it is the rider. It takes more skill to drive a manual 5-speed than a fully automatic. Also, with the ex, if you rev it out all the way, you're not getting max acceleration. you must shift before the revs get top high. Sorry for changing the subject.
The 650 kaw is nothing special to look at, but reviews reply positive feedback, especially the june issue of 4-wheel ATV action. they like it a lot. It should be intresting for shootouts between, the Rubicon ,and SP500. Then the quest 650 will be out, and the new Yamaha big bore 4wd. things are looking good for 4by4 guys.
