Did anyone overflow the oil reservoir when putting oil back in during an oil change yet? I guess the key is to put in like 4 quarts and then run it and then put in the rest. It must hold a lot throughout the engine.

By the way, is it possible to reset the oil indicator on the LCD display before it comes on? For instance, lets say I changed the oil just before the indicator on the dash came on. Do I have to wait for it to come on and then reset, or can I reset after the oil change?

Rooster, are you pulling both drain plugs and the filter? If not then all the oil will not drain out. I pour all mine at once before starting the quad.

Texmud, yes, we drain both the oil tank and crankcase, plus drop the oil filter. First time we changed the oil, after 4 quarts the oil started coming out of the fill hole. Had to run it first and put the rest in then.

Thats odd. I've done about 10 oil changes by now and never had that happen.

Yes, You can reset the oil change light at any time, say after 400 miles or whenever you change it. Mine doesnt over fill, but does get very full after 5 quarts.. I then run it and leave it at half way up the stick.

I'm surprised no one else has heard this. When I was in my Honda Dealer where I purchased my 2001 Rubicon, they told me about a bulletin that they had gotten from Honda. Honda is recommending the use of one of the Honda Synthetic Oils, no longer just GN4 10w-30/40. At the time(it's been 6 months at least), they didn't have any of the oil. I didn't get any specs or specific names on the oil only that that's what they are moving to. If I recall, one of the reasons was to prevent slippage in the trainy. I've not experienced that in mine at all. 800 miles and still as happy as zero miles.

Rooster, I've changed my oil once and my oil tank also ran over while adding the 5th quart. I had drained the tank, crankcase and changed the filter. I stopped adding oil and cranked it, shut it off and the level was at half the dipstick. I added the rest of the 5th quart and it brought it up to the full mark. I thought everyone had to do it this way.

I've had the problem with all the oil not going in after a oil change. I had to run the rubi a little to let some of the oil move around befor i could get the full amount in to it, and yes i did to pull all the plugs........
