N2Mountains,
I asked Coleman and they said the roof weight limit is 200 lbs, so that killed that idea. The frame is also not strong enough for a receiving hitch to tow machines behind it. That left me with no choice but to haul both machines on the bed. I love the system and it frees up my hole bed for cargo. I will send you a picture also.

I have a 25 Ft Aljo Toy hauler. They are really nice and work extreamly well. Be careful looking at the smaller ones they usually do not hold enough water. You need at least 62 gallons for a family on a three day weekend. Most quads have a float bowl drain screw. I just shut off the gas and open the drain screw. Let them sit a seccond and shut the screw and push them in the trailer. I know of a couple of people that have had problems with the gas smell but if you use this method you will never smell even the slightest hint of gas. The trailers with the polyurathane coated floors are the best as opposed to vynal. How the heck do you spell that? Good luck and remember also that toy haulers are a lot heavier than the same size travel trailer. I can barely pull mine with my 1/2 ton truck and a 351 windsor motor. I weigh 14,200 loaded truck and trailer. Trailer weighs about 7000-8000lbs. Good luck.

I'm looking for a toy hauler, 5th wheel, 30 foot (or so), with a seperate cargo area that has a queen or king bed over the cargo area. I have only been able to find this feature in a travel trailer. Does anyone know of a 5th wheel manufacturer that offers this option. Also, can anyone elaborate on the gas smell? Fear of this is what makes me want a seperate cargo area, but if someone can convince me that there is no smell, it may open my options. Thanks.

Check out Wells Cargo (www.wellscargo.com) and Pace American (www.paceamerican.com). They have such trailers.

Ok, here goes,
When I bought mine last year I looked at everything. I mean EVERYTHING! I wanted to make sure that I bought what I wanted the first time and not waste money on something that I would not be happy with. I ended up with a WildWood 37ft. 5th wheel manufactured by Forest River. This is the toy hauler model with a permanent wall mounted in it to seperate the cargo area from the living quarters. It also has a slide out in the living room. The cargo area is 11ft. in length. I carry a 400ex ,an 85 ATC 250r, an LT 80, and an LT 50 along with ice chests, BBQ, and some spare parts all in the cargo area WITHOUT stacking anything. The unit came loaded with all the goodies like a 5500watt generator, AC, floor heating, ceiling fans, CD player, an on and on. It came with a 100 gal fresh water tank from the factory and I have since added another 60 gal tank to supplement that. I have added an air compressor, battery charger, and carry everything I need to stay 7 to 10 days in the middle of no where by ourselves. Next on the list is the satellite TV. Its already wired for it from the factory so no sense in letting it go to waste.
We have found it to be very comfortable and have had no problems to date.
Yea, I know what you're thinking, TOO big and TOO heavy huh? Yes, it is big, but when we get there and get set up, its more than worth all the problems associated with "bigness". Weight is approx.#12,500lb loaded out. My F-350 Super Duty Diesel pulls it all over the place with no issues.
One piece of advice that I got from others when I was shopping was " Get the biggest damn thing you can safely pull with your rig. The more room the better" This was good advice that I followed and have no regrets. The only 5th wheel that I would trade up for would be an Alfa Toyhouse 40ft. with the two slides. Its $55k though and a too expensive to consider at this point.
And by the way, $25,000 out the door with a 7yr. full coverage warranty. Not too bad for a 37 footer with all the goodies.
Good luck in finding your 'hauler and ask LOTS of questions on the models you're considering.

Or you can spend a $600 dollars like me and use the other $24,000 to only have to work 3 days a week and ride the other 4. It has a heater,airconditioning,3 burner stove with oven,toilet,35 gallon fresh water,refrigerator/freezer,and sleeps 4 adults and one kid. And my $1000 dollar tandem hauls 4 quads and 3 dirtbikes. You can see it at www.photopoint.com and type in my e-mail which is tjsolmon@wans.net where it asks for your friends e-mail and look under dirtbike picks on the 2nd page. It's just a thought if you wanted to save some money. It's sure not a roomy as a toy hauler would be,but we use this everytime we go camping or the dunes. FZor those who dont care to see the picture it's just a cabover camper in the back of my tuck. Jeff

Hay Rubi:
There is a dealer in Memphis that has had a Dutchman toy hauler for over 1year. I looked at it and did not like the way you had to sleep in the skinney little place over the 'garage'. They quoted me 17500 last year, I was just in there yesterday and they told me they would sell it at there cost at 15000. You can go across the street and buy a Thor? 5th wheel (27ft) with generator for 18900.
These guys are HUNGRY right now, nothing is selling.
I have looked at these 'toy haulers' for years. There are basicly two types, those with a 'garage' and the 'all open' floor plan.
I looked at, and really liked the Ragen units.
For anybody's info there is a 35 ft with a double slide that a friend is selling.Do not rembember the brand, that is less than a year old for 21500.
Hope this helps somebody out.

Well, after trying to find a toy hauler with a garage, I had to go with one that doesn't have a wall. There was just nothing around 30 ft that could sleep 4 and fit 3 ATVs. I bought a Terry by Fleetwood, 33 5G SUT model. It sleeps up to 8, can carry more ATVs than I have, and is completely loaded. A 4.8 Kw generator and 106 gallons of water should do the trick for us. We haven't used it yet, but it looks promising. If anyone would like a follow-up post just let me know. Happy New Year and happy camping!
