The rubi is no sportsman by any means, polaris has so many advantages over the rubi, it's unreal.

Heres my example..."top ten reasons why polaris dominates its class":

9. decent stock tires (not those piddely knobby things, LUGS) Who uses the stock tires???
8. large gas tanks (theres not gas stations on the trails) Hondas are better on gas - do not need the larger tank - extra weight.
7. comfortable seats(unlike honda or yamaha's that will send a person with hemorrhoids to their dead bed.LOL.) The seat on my 450 is very comfortable.
6. automatic transmissions (automatics shift faster than humans.hehe.) The Rubi has the option of both - auto and ES Shift.
5. full floorboard (not half crap boards) Floorboards work fine for me and I weigh 240lbs.
4. most suspension travel in each machines class(no use for suspension when you don't have travel. Agree
3. Macpherson struts (comfortable ride and found on all four corners of the sportsmans independent suspension system. Agree
2. locked true 4x4 ( the rest of the companies might as well call there machines 3x4's.LOL.) Agree
1. True AMERICAN craftsmanship (yes I like to wave the American flag on occation) Please!! We cannot build any motorized vehicle as good as the Japs. Look at the resale value of the Hondas compared to all other ATVs, big difference! Look at the resale value of a 1996 Ford Taurus or Chevy Lumina compared to a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. Not even close! I love our country just as much as anyone else, but we do not come close in this category!

I Love a good debate!

I have never witnesses personally a 450 going nearly as far as a Polaris in the mud, even with 27 inch tires and a locked front diff. Hondas are not good mud machines, normally the holes we play in the Honda riders, tend to sit and watch. other than Polaris possibly I would choose the 650 Kawasaki or the Grizz. for true mudding you need a locked front diff, so all 4 wheels get power all the time. I have never had anything but another Polaris go as far as me in the mud.

Mike, you propose a good debate.

I still agree along the lines with pathfinder95 that polaris has the top mud machine on the market, look what comes standard on them.

LONG LIVE POLARIS!!!

Mike,
rider experience has ALOT to do whether a rider makes it up a hill, thru a mud pit ect.

Case in point,
My buddie Chuck has a 99 4x4 280cc King Quad.He THOUGHT he was stuck about a year ago.I sat and watched him.He asked to be pulled out,I denied the pull and requested that he get off and let me get the King out of the Mud.Chuck witnessed body language that he had never seen done on an ATV before and witnessed me getting his KQ out without any assistance.I see this all the time. And some guys look at you like ''WOW''that dude really has an awesume 4x4,when really he could of done the same thing with the ''KNOW HOW'' and experience,

Bill

The Griz has been out what... a month??? You can't say whether something is reliable in a month!!! I have been watching/reading every post about this in the Yammie board and have heard nothing of the sort.

The 2002 arctic cat 500 with an independent rear suspension might be worth looking at as well. The AC has been buildin pretty good machines for a few years and you can't beat the prise for the features you get. Check out the AC forum for details on mudding with these very powerful motors!

Resale values are based on a lot of things besides which one is "better" so to speak. Look at Harley's, even the older un reliable ones are worth their original price

Woodwarrior I meant the older models of the grizzly haven't been reliable. I know lots of people who have told me that, but I guess the new griz might be different.

By all means get the Grizzly. They should be quite the ride.My buddy has one and it works perfect. It's only the 600 but they should all be about the same.I have a 2001 500cc Automatic CAT and its the ultimate mud machine but its not for everyone.Too much grunt and POWER for any HONDA rider.Hondas are just little womens machines.Especially that joke of a Rubicon. What a pig.I pulled one out of a bog and the guy took it and traded it in on a CAT the next day. He's got a smile on his face now you couldn't pry off with a 6' bar.
