Momma got a Rancher
#1
Well, we finally did it. We are now an all-Red riding family. My wife, TBossMomma, finally got fed up with her swingarm problem recurring every month with her TrailBoss, so she traded in her Polaris for a 2001 Rancher 4x4. And she loves it! So, I'd like to hear from the other Rancher owners what to watch for, and be aware of, just like us Rubicon owners did. Her Rancher has had the A-arm work done at the dealer, and I've already fixed a little oil leak. so let me know what else to watch out for. Oh, and my wife has changed her webname to RancherMomma!

watch out for the little peice of plastic that covers the recoil pull, if you take it off and put it back on too many times it will never lock on correctly, its annoying... lol thats the only problem i have had with mine.. gotta love honda

Do you mean the little side cover? Thanks, I'll keep an eye on that. I got to admit, that's a neat little machine, only it works "big", and has a great motor, very torquey! She'll never go back!

Yep the little cover, mine is allways loose now ;( It even fell off once and i found it.
YES! Doesnt it have power?? I was suprised what it does for being a 350!! I have never had a problem with it going up hills, it has so much low end power it is amazing and the top speed is just like a 300ex.. I think its because of the gearing, its perfect, 3rd will do most anything, and you have second for when its rough, and first i hardly ever use unless towing.. 4th is for crusing and 5th is for going fast.. Its great.
What a great quad, what a great company.

Yes and no. Yes you are supposed to have your atv registered (Ohio sticker) to ride at WNF. No, the people selling the permits do not check, however, you are at risk of being checked by the Forest Rangers. If you really want to go, you can go to the BMV and get a temporary registration for $4. It is funny, they charge you $4 for 30 days and $7.50 for three years, but I guess if you are in a hurry to ride, you will pay it.

The only thing i recommend is a set of AP StikGards or Oxlite CV gaurds. Mine is outta commision right now because a "spear" came through my right fron suspension assembly, put a nice neat hole in the lower finder and tore the cv boot real bad. A good det of handgaurds is recommended also.
