Recently i've been encountering some problems with my Honda 300 4x4. I ride a lot of mud and water, so i have a feeling that i have water or trash in my carb. Sometimes, when i rev it, it will sputter off....and then sometimes, it loses all pulling power for like a second or two, as if water or trash splashed into the jets or something. Could this be the problem? And if so, whats the best way to go about fixing it? I've already removed my carb, and let all of the gas and water pour out of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes water could be the problem-did you also drain your tank? It could have entered either through your vent lines on the carb, or through the tank, at which point the tank would directly feed the carb any water that was there, causing your problems you mention. I'd definately drain the tank, and all lines as well, then put in new, fresh gas, as well as a half of a bottle of HEAT, or a similar gas treatment to remove the water. While you're at it, it would be a good idea to check the oil as well, along with front and rear diff's, just to be sure there's no water elsewhere. Also, take a look at your plug, make sure it's looking OK. If there's water in there, blow it out for sure, replace all oil and filter, and install a new plug. As for the carb, if you took it apart and drained all the water out, you could also pull the jet/s to make sure there's no debris or stuff plugging them up, that might help as well.

Anyway, Best of Luck getting it all fixed up-water's terrible at getting everywhere you DON'T want it! Take Care,

Mike
