Need some advice

Im selling my blaster and a guy wants to trade me a 99' honda fourtrax 300 2x4. He is bringing it here sometime today. He says its in excellent condition but I will soon find out. His son is wanting something faster, he rides the 300 and his dad has a 400ex. It sounds like a great deal to me. If i do make the trade, im going to sell it. I wont even ride it. How much could i get for it if its in good condition? I know i could make some money off of it. What would yall do in this situation because I have been trying to sell my blaster for 6 weeks. I hope this works out because I can finally get a 250r. I found a 87 for 3000. The motor is in great shape but the stearing stem bearings are gone, the swingarm bearings are gone, it has no brakes and probably some stuff that I dont know about. The guy that has it is a mechanic and he said he would fix up everything but then he would want more for it. Is that a good deal. I want a R bad. Thanks, Anthony

Bermbanger he said the 300 was in excellent shape, the R needs bearings and brakes.Anyway,$3,000 clams is pretty steep for somthing you can't ride, tell the dude if all this stuff needs replacing, how well could you have possibly taken care of it.The guy I bought my '88 from wanted $2,000 in the classifieds.I went to his house and rode it the brakes were junk the swingarm and axle bearings were smoked, nothing really special for performance parts, tires, bla bla bla.I said look man I got $1500 cash, the other $500 I'll need before I can go for a ride and make it back.He took it,not that the other guy will but it sucks to pay alot of money like that and still have to spend more before you can ride it to see if everything else is gonna be alright.Good luck.

Well, the sold the R but he has a 99 400ex that has a yoshimura slip on pipe, its been ported, it has a high cmopression piston and a hotter cam. It is owned by a mechanic and he said he is going to freshen up the porting and put new gaskets. It has turf tamers on the back aand custom grooved mx tires on the front. He wants 4000 for it. How does that sound. I saw the 300 that the guy is trading me. Its in very good shape. It cranked up as soon as he pressed the button. I figure i can get about 3000 for it and put that toward the 400ex. Is 3000 too much to ask? I think i am goin to start at 3300 and work from there. I dont know much about these kind of bikes. Im more into racing. Thanks, Anthony
