Does anyone know what the top speed of a stock 400 EX is? I just bought mine a couple of days ago, and I would like to know.

I just got my 400ex Friday and gotta say it awesome! Back in January 2000 4 Wheel ATV Action posted these numbers on these 4 quads.


2000 DS 650 - top speed 74 mph
1988 TRX250R - top speed 70 mph
2000 TRX400EX - top speed 64 mph
2000 Banshee - top speed 72 mph

The 400 will go about 65 stock.

 

MY FRIEND WAS CLOCKED AT 68 MPH ON HIS STOCK 400EX

 

My gps showed 64, and couldn't get any faster without going down hill.

 

there so many variables you will never have an exact top speed. Things that will affect this are weight of rider, wind speed and direction, riding surface, and the difference in power between different quads. Some motors seal up a bit better resulting in more compression which = more power.

So there is no exact top speed but I would say mid 60s is fair

 

There is a graph over at www.atvriders.net that shows the top speeds of a few different quads. I dont know the source of their info but it looks fairly accurate.
