So look at Honda's website...

They just completely redesigned the CR250 motocross bike--all-new aluminaum frame, and all-new 2 stroke powerplant.

I know we've beaten this topic to DEATH, but I still say, there is a CHANCE we may see a new HI-PERFORMANCE line of ATV's, separate from the SPORTrax line, which could contain a 2 stroker...an ALL NEW 250R...imagine that...

Hmmm...

yeah. right. There is not a chance. Not when even the new Honda Jet-Ski is a four stroke. Not when there is a brand new CR450F engine. Not even when there is a new CR250 engine.

Its all the lawsuits years ago with ATV's why we probably won't see it and the no smoke weenies. I think that if they would put that engine in a 400ex based chassis they would sell five times the amount that a dirtbike would sell. Thats an interesting design for the engine. It kinda reminds me of the rotary disk/carb system Kawasaki had on there dirtbikes of the early 70's. The drawbacks of the Kawasaki design was it made the engine very wide with the carb stuck on the side down by your foot. I had a 72 Kawasaki enduro with that carb setup and it ran quite good. Chet

You'll never see a new 2 stroke quad from Honda. If i remember correctly honda has claimed they will not make any more 2 stroke engines except for closed course MX. But i may be wrong someone correct me if i am. I still believe that Honda will not even come out w/ a 450ex or 600ex as long as the 400ex is still selling so well. I believe honda will milk all they can out of the 400 despite all the other company's going to big bores. Not to say they wont eventually enter it but i dont believe they will till there sales take a dramatic drop.

Yep, never will see a 2 stroker as even this years re-design on the CR is "gulp" the last! And, yes honda did state no more 2 strokes except the CR line.
Look at the facts, honda has always been 4 stroke crazy

1962: honda's first OHC motercycle
1978: Hondas frist ATC with the OHC engine from the CT110
1983: HOndas first RFVC engine in the XR500R (own one)
1997: Frist 4 stroke weedeater!
2001: Frist 4 stroke waverunner!

Even our new civic has "ultra low emissions" written on every dam window! Said to be so clean burning it actually cleans the air when driven in LA!

Yes, you may say all you want about how Honda will not come out with a new quad. But we have no CLUE! Whatsoever. Honda is smarter than the average company. They knew long before that the market was going to big bores. How do we know Honda hasn't been working on a new big bore or a 450 quad ever since the 400EX came out? Or even before that? You know, Honda can work on more than one project at a time. Obviously. Very large company, lots of income. I am almost guessing we'll have our new Honda by the end of September (not at the dealers though).

I am leaning towards the 650EX, then in a few years ( 1 or two ) honda will drop the 400 and move the the liquid cooled 450

My money's on a 500EX. Remember the XR500 dirtbike produced from 87-95'? It's a proven motor. Honda owns the tooling. Cheap for them to manufacture. Look for two versions of the quad. One with electric start, reverse, and a backup starter. The other will be a kick start, without reverse. Honda doesn't play the displacement wars. They play the "Let's make the most money wars." A 500EX would sell like no other.

The new 450 wouldn't make it in a quad this early in the game. Yamaha could of done it with the 426, but didn't. And a 600 or 650 just aren't Honda's style. You can bet on a more conservitive 500cc machine(if any at all).

If you don't believe me, just look at the past. Yamaha was producing the 600 Grizzly for years while Honda's biggest 4x4 was the "small" 400 Foreman. Polaris, Suzuki, Bombardier, all had 500 class machines. What does Honda release as thier new bad work-horse? The 500 Rubicon. A great machine, but smaller displacement. What makes everyone think Honda is going to break thier tradition and make something to compete with the Raptor in the displacement catagory? NO WAY! It will be the 500, if anything at all.

what about the other side of honda the bikes one of the biggest dirtbikes
the xr650 or one of the bigest 2 strokes slill in production the cr500
what about the new vtx sreetbike the biggest v twin cruiser of somting like that anyway honda is not all small displasment
so im leaning to a 650ex
