Rancher 350 4x4 ??
#1
I was just wondering how the honda rancher 350 4x4 does in the sand dunes, how does it do climbing hills in the sand dunes, good?? bad?? The reason is, becuase my dad has one and i dont want him going over inside a bowl, or a big hill and not haveing the power to get back up and over!

My Rancher has Blackwater tires on it (they act a little like a paddle tire, and they have good flotation), so it doesn't do to bad in the sand. Can't say how it would do with stock tires though. While the bike is light for a utility, it is heavy and underpowered for a sand machine. The 4X4 is really determental, because spinning the front drive just drains power that you badly need at the back end! If he gets into the big stuff, he'll have to really be a good tactician to get around.

You could use the same tires you would put on a sport bike, except of course you would need 4 of them. I have never tried this (or seen anyone else try it) with a 4X4, because I have sport bikes I can take when I go to the dunes. But, I might give it a try just to see what happens!

Sure. The Rancher has a 4/110 bolt pattern all the way around, and the 250 has 4/110 in the rear (4/144 front). You'll need to buy another pair of rear tires and rims though. I am going to try this as soon as the weather cools off. I have 4 sets of paddles from my sport bikes, so tires aren't a problem. I'll have to wait a while though, you just don't go to the dunes this time of year. I'll try it at some out of the way place (not Glamis, Dumont, or Pismo), so if it doesn't work or the bike looks stupid, nobody will see me!!
