bayou is right, you should post this question in the Yamaha and Kawi forums, but you will get your best information from those of us who own/have owned both bikes. Lots of Honda riders "grew up" riding Blasters!! Notice I didn't comment on the Kawi, because I never owned one.

I will not sit here and tell you wich one to buy,(they all jump well and are close enough in a drag race)but instead I'll tell you why I bought a Mojave. I too was considering a 300EX. The Blaster never really was in my list because I had ridden my cousins wich was new at that time and I didn't like the brakes, mechanical drums on front and mechanical disc on the rear. The two stroke was also on my not to do list because of the lack of engine compression braking and reliability. No reverse. It makes sense why it's so much cheaper. On the other hand, what didn't make sense was why is the Mojave so much cheaper than a 300EX? They both have reverse, they are both 4 strokes, the Mojave is liquid cooled, that was a plus from my eyes, performance is similar even though the Mojave has an edge in acceleration and top speed. So what was left? Looks, and feel. I thought the Mojave looked better, and I like the way it felt to ME. So, my recomendation is, try all the quads and consider the most important factors to your friend and then choose from there
