<< It's all about money guys. 83% of quads sold in 2000 were utility quads. If I were Honda I'd make a 650 utility quad before the 650 sport too. Then, I'd put a fuel injected 650 in a 400ex frame. Then everyone is happy. >>
We are all lucky that Honda got in with the development when they did. As well as all the other companies in this world. I know, I know....Bush promises that the economy will remain stable. But will it? In the wake of everything that has happened..and everything that will happen over the next few years. I think everyone will make sacrifices. I think you will see people spending less on quads in the next few years. I know that I am concerned about my financial future. Spending another 6+ grand on a wheeler is not in my books for a while. I wonder if honda has a team of people doing demographics? I would bet they do...there is a reason that a new sport quad does not exist.
Did anyone notice what the military was unloading (news clips) and training on for overseas use? Modified kawasaki dual sports..similar to the klx650. I bet Kawi got a nice contract out of this. I saw a special on the discovery channel a while back. The Military does use some quads...but not in combat. They have deemed them as being not safe or reliable enough for use in the field. The bikes on the other hand are all decked out...but still heavy imo.
Anyway.... I'm not sure if this post is helpful or not...just some of the things I am thinking about...while everyone else is worrying about how ugly a work horse is.
but as always ....priorities...priorities
ride em if you got em.
