Why does Honda continue to not give the public what they ask for???? The four main things people want in a big bore sport/utility machine are: Disc Brakes all the way around, switchable 2 wheel/4 wheel drive, IRS front and rear, and a locking front differential.

Soooo, here's Honda's newest entry, the Rincon. Honda's going to offer the the IRS, but they put disc brakes in the rear, and drums in the front. Why?? Next you get switchable 2/4 wheel drive, but with the same crappy limited-slip front end. Again why? What's the deal with the new "radial" stock tires? How many people are going to leave the stock tires on a 650cc machine???? You know the price is going to at least a good $500 more than the new Yamaha 660 Grizzly, or the Prairie 650. No locking front diff. and discs only in the rear, why would anyone buy a Rincon over one of these machines?

Honda knows that they have tens of thousands of "brainwashed" followers. They (Honda), know that if they produced a quad that had a tranny that consisted of a rubberband that you had to get off and wind up every two thirds of a mile, they would still sell thousands of them.

Because it'll last and it's got a real transmission instead of a rubber band.

I am sorry but I had to add my two cents here it is.

The Rincon is butt ugly I would rather be seen driving the Bombardier Traxtor then the Rincon
I use to be a Honda fan I started with a Honda trail 110 then moved to a XR 250 then a CR 500 and during that same time I had a 110 3 wheeler and a TRX 350 4X4 4 wheeler after having so many problems with these machines I switched manufactures Yamaha and Polaris I realized during this time that all manufactures have problems so just go for the bike that has the features you want and the ride you want and have fun. I to wished Honda was going to put that 55HP 450 engine in the 400 EX but like everyone has said the Honda followers would buy anything even if it was a POS look how many Hondas it took me to realize this. Honda will not be cutting edge if it does not need to be why waste the money it will sell no matter what they release they have the followers.

From the pictures that I saw, I like the look of the Rincon. I'm sure it will be a good quad, but I am surprised that they didn't put disc brakes on the front. Its not like they don't know how to make them, and I would think they'd save weight as well (I know the drums work fine, but discs are more popular if nothing else). Also, I wish they had left the Rubicon's handlebar light on it (probably a weight savings), and put a locker on the front diff. (this is a really popular feature). I don't know what prices are like in the U.S., but here they want 10,700 for a Rubicon, 10,650 for a Grizzly, and 10,200 for a Prairie 650. Personally I'd rather have a Grizzly or a Prairie over the Rubicon because for the money, theres no comparison with all the features and power they offer over the Ruby. I guess thats why they are making the Rincon, but I don't know why they don't drop the Rubicon's price if sales are down. I'm sure the Rincon will cost more than the Ruby, so that would put it at a lot more than the others without having more features. Yes, its a Honda, but so far the other brands are doing quite well considering all the new features, so the way I see it, I'd have to love the Rincon head and shoulders over the rest to consider paying that kind of price difference (speculated, I admit). Maybe it will be worth it, but the quality issue is overrated. The old Prairie I have has excellent fit and finish and is as good a quality as any machine out there, and the new one isn't bad either. Even the new Polaris's are drastically improved in quality so the gap is narrowing. Maybe the Rincon will turn out to be a rocket and also win a shootout with the rest. If it does, it will sell well at any price. If it doesn't, Honda will be hard pressed to hold on to the top sales spot. It should be interesting. Anyway, we all win because there sure are a lot of great machines to choose from now!

The only reason honda put a turbo in their jetski was becsause they got wind of the SeaDoo 4 stroke specs. Then they knew their ski was going to be beat by them.

There is a reason Honda has such a good reputation for reliability - They are simpler! Less features = less things to break. That's why they have a superior reliability record. Plus IMO there quality and attention to detail are very good as well. But I would still rather lose a little in reliability to have some of those extra features like diff lock, disc brakes, 3rd headlight, metal front bumper, wet brake, trailer hitch, etc.

Well If I was going to buy a 4X4 it would definatly be the rincon. I couldnt care less about the front drums if I have one good back brake and it's a 4x4 then when you hit the back brakes it's obviously going to slow down the front tires also. I would like the locking front diffenential but oh well. I think it would look SWEET with some kind of big homemade front bumper. I also dont want some queer belt drive that I need to constantly replace. Plus it's a light big bore 4X4 it doesnt need the hugest motor because it doesnt have to carry the extra 200lbs or so of the polaris.

PS 4x4Boar who cares why they did it but they did so who cares.
