Need another atv, any advice?

2002 Yamaha Kodiak. Forget a Polaris, they have so many more models and model year changes from year to year it would take a chronologist to keep up with how low the value goes down every year. Their dealer base is few and far between. Most of the dealers are tractor nuts using the Polaris as income when no ones farming in the winter. Their entire lineup is much like Artic Cat's... ALL models originate from only 4 platforms. I know I probally just upset a few Polaris owners, but hey, this is the Honda forum, so there.

It does not matter how many designs there are or who sells them, as long as they are reliable. The simple fact of the matter is, she is requesting a switchable 2x4/4x4, with a nice suspension able to carry 2 peope at a time, that will compliment her families current ride, a Rancher ES. It sounds like she wants something that can work with the Rancher ES, but not do the utility stuff as much. A Polaris Scrambler fits the bill to a tee. Ive seen many of them run for years on basic maintanance, even abused. Polaris makes some of the best snowmobiles in the world, they can certainly build a decent quad... Oh yea, Polaris is built in Minn...
This may be mute, as I have not seen MYA post any sort of follow ups questions, wonder if she decided on something...

Thanks for all the replies! We're still undecided. The Scrambler 500 4x4 is perfect, but I don't think I can convince the husband. When I'd first started this thread neither atv was going to be strictly mine or his, but now he's quite fond of the Rancher and he's claimed it as his own. Since this would be mostly "my" 4 wheeler the more powerful engine, on demand 4 wheel drive, and extra cost makes it pretty much unattainable. The trailboss or recon es are the more likely candidates, or even buying used as the money has turned into the biggest deciding factor. I think I just may have to take control over the Rancher..... Maybe then he'd be more open for negotiation. lol I'll let you know when and what's been decided. Thanks again and wish me luck!

The same thing happened to us. Went back and got the wife a 2001' Recon. She loved it, but didn't care for the foot shifter. So I'm selling her 2001' Recon and getting her the new 2002' Recon ES. You can't beat the Recon for a Fun Ride, easy to handle and she gets stuck less than I do. Get the new Recon ES, You will Love It.

KNOWSALOT,
Forget the Kodiak. You calling the Kodiak faster than the Polaris? It was suggested to Mya to get either the Scrambler 500 4x4 or the Trail Blazer. Sure it's faster than the Blazer, but call me stupid, how is the Kodiak not a tractor? I can name numerous Polaris 'tractor' models that will stomp on the Kodiak time and time again.
I say, go with the Scrambler and have some fun. I'm sure I dissapointed some Kodiak owners, but after all, this is a HONDA forum!
