I checked the Honda web site and I'm not sure where they are measuring. Can someone measure under the center skid and tell me please?
Thanks.

Under the [rancher]footpeg, getting about eleven inches
See photo

Fuzzy photo, showing ruler at frame level.

edit added: this is stock, but at 100$ it'd be a bargain to add a lift kit for another few inches if conditions warrented it.

Jeff, the Recon measures 8.25 inches from under frame tube to the ground at the foot peg. Not bad for what some claim to be a small quad. I am 6'2" and am comfortable when I ride this "little" quad.
Off the original topic a bit but I would like to add that dollar for dollar, pound for pound this is the most capable quad on the market, able to go 90% of the places larger 4wd units go and some places they can't because of agility and power to weight ratio.

The center is not what you should worry about. The rear diff is by far the lowest point on both bikes. On the Recon, it is only 6-7 inches. Just ride over some rocks if you don't believe me.
