I have a kinda strange question. Will the Recon seat fit the 250EX? I had a Recon a few years back and remember the seat being pretty comfortable. The same can not be said for the too hard seat on the 250EX. I was thinking if the seats were similar enough, I might be able to get the cover and foam for the Recon and adapt it to the EX. Even if I have to change the rear a bit to make it work, it would be worth it. Thanks for any help!

How are those Gators? I've been considering them, but I am concerned about weight and ride quality. TIA

my one friend has a 250ex and my other one has a recon and i dont think you could switch seats. i thought the 250ex was pretty comfy. you will prolly just have to softer padding in the seat you already have.

I put the Gators on Friday. I went with the 22X10X9 since they were about 4 pounds lighter than the 11" wide. They were under 20 pounds (but not by much). I rode yesterday at Wayne Natl. Forest on steep hills, mud, rocks, gravel, hardpack and on rock ledges. They did very well. The lugs are deep and aggressive but they overlap the center by several inches so they give a fairly smooth ride, I couldn't tell much difference from stock. They are fairly flat profile and VERY stiff, so they don't flex on off cambers. Today I rode at a river close to home. It is sandy and slimy mud. The Gators were really impressive. They handled the sand with no problem and pushed me right thru slimy mud that would have stopped me dead before. I am very pleased with my choice. I would definitely go with the 10" wide on a Recon since they won't cut your power down as much. My brother has an identical 250EX with heavier tires that are also slightly taller. They really cut into his power. I can pull away quicker and wheelie easier. I could only find the Gators in the size I wanted at Treadepot.com. With shipping they were $130.

We have both, and no, the seats will not interchange. They're not even close!
