I see why he bought the 250EX,I want to do the same thing. It is a damned good atv.I used to have a trailblazer250 and a 250EX is a lot faster,so i am making the change too,but i want to have it a little faster than stock.Ill probably bore it to like a 280 cc or some thing like that.Besides you can go more places on a 250EX(reverse more g/c) than on a 400EX.

ICAV-

No way can the 250ex go more places than a 400... like I said--- I own BOTH... and there are places the 400 can power up... when we need to push the 250 up...

I think the 250 is a great bike.... for beginners and chicks-
If you got some experience with 4-wheelin'... get a big boy bike. It's a TON more fun... Jump higher, go faster, handle MUCH better... ect.

Buying a 250 only to bore it out is pointless. Get a big engine- and then go bigger.

Dude,didn't i say I dont want a used ATV? A 250EX is more then enough power 4 me. I can't afford a 400ex and i'll me f@#$ed if Im going to
get a used ATV. Overall the 250Ex is lighter then the 400 as well.(Alot easier on your head if it falls on you). I also think they're may be a way to get the 250ex as fast as a 350 or maybe more.

Go to http://www.fourstroketech.com/fst_main.htm
Then go to "kit of the month"

This should give you a boost in performance.

Check it out man, I have an old Dirt Wheels or ATV Action that says the 300ex does around 52 or 53 miles an hour. In the last ATV action with the 200 or 250 cc shoot out they say the 250ex tops out at 51.5 miles an hour. Speed wise your not that far in the hole and the 250 is around 27 pounds less. You could do the pipe, jet, air filter thing and it would definitely help. The problem is and I know this because I own a 250ex myself, the 250's suspension and width need help. If it had more of a smooth ride and a wider stance it wouldn't "2 wheel" in fast corners or be as rough a ride at high speeds. You could do the pipe, jet, air filter, and the kit from four stroke tech but if it's not a smooth stable ride it doesn't really matter you won't be able to comfortably use the power. I'm getting a 400ex next summer I only bought the 250ex because it's my first quad and it wasn't terribly expensive. Now I've out grown it and want more power and handling. I thought about attempting to hop it up but by the time you hop it up you could have just bought a bigger quad with more potential that will beat it stock anyways.
