I know the blackwaters are better in muddin than stock....but are not the best mud tire out there. THey perform better than stock, but are more all around, and do good in more places than just in the mud like vamps. Tred height i think it at about 3/4" or 1" maybe....

Blackwaters used to be THE tire, and they are still way better than stock. But there are a lot of better tires out there. My personal favorite is the GBC Gator. It is a lighter tire than the Vamps, 6 ply, true to the height it says it is, and it does not give a rough ride on hard pack. In the mud they give great traction. I was riding with my brother yesterday with his new Wolverine. With his tires stock and Gators on the back of my 250EX, I could actually get thru a couple of mud holes that he couldn't! I even pulled him out of one that I went thru, talk about humiliating! Another tire to consider if you like the look of the Blackwaters but don't want to pay the high price is the Duro Excavator. It is a very good tire that you can get for much cheaper than the Blackwaters (especially in Dennis Kirk) and performs very similar. Try treadepot.com for a site that gives good descriptions, pictures and the actual height and weight of each tire. Then shop around for the best price ( don't forget to put the cost of shipping into your equations for it varies from free to $10-$15 per tire).
