Adjusting Automatic Clutch on Recon
#1
I bought my boy a used Recon (W/O Owners Manuel) for christmas for his first ATV. I think He has burned the clutch by starting off too many times in Higher gears other than first, even though I stay on him about it. I was wondering from some of yall with Honda's if there was an adjustment for the clutch and where and how? If it is gone How much are they? I bought it and the stock tires were wore out, so I put some Gators on yesterday and got on to try out and I could tell the clutch wasn't what it was. Any advise would be appreciated.

The clutch adjustment is for the 'change' clutch, the centrifigul clutch has no paticular adjustment. If it slips too much or engages wrong it needs internal work. A few abuses won't send the quad to the shop, but try to keep it in a gear where it's never slipping unless taking off to get going. IMO it's always better to rev up rather than be on the edge of slipping, case in point- putting at 6 MPH I'd rather be in first with the engine buzzing away than putting in second or third gear.

The factory manual is fairly reasonable, $40.00. You can buy it online for $44.00 to your door from: www.helminc.com
The manual covers all systems and repair procedures. It is easy to use. Laid out in a easy to understand format.
Good luck!
