DG Head Pipe glows after long ride
#1
Just curious if anyone else has noticed that their head pipe tends to glow after a hard ride. I have DG pipes on both of my Honda 300EX's and after adjusting the jetting (thanks again for your help on jetting) they still start to glow when I ride for a while. The glowing does stop after a couple of minutes at idle. I don't do any racing, just recreational riding out in the desert and it does not seem to matter what the temp outside is. Running lean does not seem to be a factor here because like I have said, I adjusted the jetting to the point of my plugs getting carbon fouled (they never have before) which according to the FSM means I am running too rich. I dropped it down a little more to where the plugs do not show any signs of carbon fouling. When I check them they just show normal wear. I've had a set of plugs in for two years ('bout 700 miles of riding) and they do not show any signs of overheating. Again, according to the FSM, a lean condition would cause the plug to show definate signs of overheating (which my plugs do not show).
I am beginning to wonder if it is just the fact that the DG pipes are just thinner than the original stock pipes that came on the bike.
Any comments or your experiences with glowing pipes would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again for all your advice.

It glows bright red, this can be bright enough to stand out in daylight. or like a beacon at night. I think honda's motors just have a nack at glowing pipes, the OEM stainless pipe on my honda ute glow like fire embers on normal riding and get bright when working...
