Hey there, I'm new to these forums. Just bought a 2002 400ex about a week ago after riding a Wolverine for 5 years. I'm ready to go to the dunes, but I'm not so sure about what kind of paddle tires to get. I was thinking that the Skat Trak Haulers would be a good choice (with 8 paddles). Does anyone have experience good or bad with these tires, or maybe a better choice. My motor is stock right now, but I will add an exhaust in the near future.

Mine performs very well at Glamis on Sand Sharks. I think a set of 8 paddle haulers would be a little too much paddle for anything short of a heavily modded 416-440EX.

The straight paddle of the Haulers will probably be too aggressive for a stock 400. Get some Dune Hoppers or a chevron paddle tire for your ride!

Thanks, I was thinking that the haulers might be too much paddle. Right now there's a couple pairs of Sand Sharks on ebay. (one set on "black label" and one on "red label" wheels). They're both in good shape, what is the most money that you would spend on these?? I was thinking about $150 since they are used.

Me and a friend of mine both have 8 paddle haulers and they are perfect. We ride at Sand Mountain which is very steep and is at 4500ft. elevation.

Go with the haulers, you will not be dissapointed.

It depends on what kind of riding you will be doing. If you are play riding at one of the oregon dunes I would definately go with sand sharks or the new kenda gecko's. Rocky mountain has sharks on 10" rims for $149.00 I think. Shippinng is about $20.00.
Rec unlimeted has gecko's for about the same. Go with .125 rims unless you are really hard on equipment or plan on using them somewhere other than sand. I agree haulers are too much paddle for a 400 (they will work but sharks are cheaper and seem to have just the right bite).
Good luck !!
