Does anyone know where I could order a carbon fiber gas tank cover for my 400ex?? Somebody's gotta make them. If someone has one....did it match up good after installation. How does the finish hold up? I just bought some warning label covers on ebay, and thought that the gas tank cover would be cool too.

I bought mine at www.featherlight.com You can also get them at

www.quadtech.com but they cost more, and featherlight will replace or fix it if it breaks.

It was $90. Fits well, looks killer. Seems to hold up well.

I couldn't believe it when I took it out of the box, it's as thin as a sheet of typing paper, and weighs half as much.

You can see a picture of mine at my site below.

You'll definetley want to check out feathercarbon.com. This guy can make ANYTHING out of carbon!!! And, he offers a warranty with his products. If you don't see a part that you want, just e-mail him.

For that feather carbon cover that you guys have...since it is so thin, does it just go over the existing cover, or is it strong enough to be put in place on its own?? I like that they have 4 color choices for all of their accessories. It looks like that is the guy I'm going to buy mine from.

it goes on there as its own. you take your stocker off. it is very strong but i did manage to put a big crack in mine. i was doin a nothing and the quad dropped out from underneath me and i landed on it with my knee (ouch). but don't worry i had to hit it really really hard to crack it. you should be fine.

I put mine over the existing piece. It fit a lot nicer that way, on my bike, anyway.
