I was just wondering which quad I should get. I'm 12 years old 5'5" 140 pounds. I like to trail ride and ride in the mud. Is the 250EX worth the extra $400?

Not only that you can do massive wheelies and go off jumps and actually get some pretty good air. so i think it is worth it but i have never ridden a recon but im happy i didnt!

What RubiconMan500 said is exactly it! If you want to spend $400 more and loose those handy racks then hey it's your choice but I surely wouldn't pay more for a remodeld Recon without racks.

PS you can jump and wheelie the Recon too. Since you like to trail ride and go mudd'n then I'd say get the Recon, you can strap a come-along on the racks so when you get stuck bad you can get out. Or you could go with a winch, The lower geared recon would help pull mud tires better then the higher geared 250EX. Overall you spend less and get more.

My 2 cents.

Hey I ride a 250ex and I love it. So far I have not ran out of power. I ride with all diffrent
size quads. I show them how to mud and hill climb. As far as the recon vs the 250, go with the 250, It is alot more snappier than the recon. I rode next to one and was not impressed at all.

The EX is 50+ lbs. lighter. If you are primarily a sport rider and don't need the racks, I think it is worth $400 to have a lighter bike.

Actually the 02' models have the same exact motor so it shouldn't be "snappier" you must have been going against an 01' or older.
