300ex wont start when hot junk!!

my neighbors 30ex will get hot run like crap and eventually stall and it wont start agian its not really getting that hot and its on 45outside whats going on and also the starter makes funny noises

Is it actually the starter making noises? Or is it close to the starter making it sound like the starter? [Whoa..confusing!]

One possibility could be that some of the bolts that hold the starter clutch to the flywheel have came off and when the engine runs, the bolts have trashed the stator. When the stator heats up, it quits sending energy. Happens all the time. That would explain why it goes dead after warming up.

However, if that's not the problem, it could be many things. Especially since it sounds like this quad has never been taken care of or maintained.

your right about maintance this quad was wrecked before he got it and theres more to come and he got ripped off on it its a 94 it neeeds plastics a bumper a head gasket and the frame is tweaked and on top off all that he paid 2600 for it

That's beyond being ripped off. One in excellent condition wouldn't bring that.
