Ok, i rebuilt my whole quad getting ready for the new gncc season and i just recently got it all together. the motor was sitting in a box in the basement the whole time that it wasnt in the quad. when i put it in the darn thing wouldnt shift. so i figured maybye if i start it up and ride it it will work. then i found that it was stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear. it runs awesome but the shifter wont move down at all and for the little bit that it does move up, it dosent do anything. i put in a new clutch and rebuilt the motor and thata it. if anyone has had this problem or has any ideas at all i would very much appreciate the help. Thanks.

Your shifter shaft may have slipped off of the gear shift drum pin.
Go this web site:

part # 8 should go inside of the hole at the end of # 17

crazyhorse03, weird man My Banshee is doing the exact same thing. I am with briansgi on this one. The 250R's shift drum has 3 "forks", and the top and bottom one might've fell off. The "Center" fork is on a bolt all by its lonesome, and the "Left" and "Right" are together. I'm guessing your Center came out of the drum. I just pulled the cases back together on my motor, so if you have any questions, please reply, or email me. screamin350@Hotmail.com
