Anyone have any tips on buying a used bike? gonna be gettin a 79 CR125, the guy completly restored it and he says it's in perfect condition. He has also jsut finished painting it, i'm afirad he might be trying to cover up some rust maybe, any way to check this out?

Also i know this is a ATV form, and i own and drive a ATV, ATV's are my passion just gettin a dirtbike for something different and cheap. Anyone know any dirt bikes forums?

with that age....your best bet would be to look for cracks. check the forks. look for leaks. ask for proof that he restored it, i.e. receipts, old parts, etc. when you are looking at bike that age....you get what you pay for. good luck!

I don't know anything about the older dirt bikes, but you can find early 90's 125 bikes for around $800-1000. Actually, my buddy is selling his 88 CR125 with a totally rebuilt motor for about $800. They're a lot of fun. It's easier to go from a dirt bike to atv than from an atv to dirt bike though.
