OK, There is a connector behind the battery. Unplug it. There are two yellow wires on the connector leading to the stator right?? Measure the resistance between these two yellow wires off of that connector. Forget about the side which you just unplugged. The resistance should be 0.2-0.6 ohm. If less than that the stator is bad. Then remove one of the prongs from the connector and touch ground. If there IS continuity replace the stator.

This from our own shop manual. A pretty simple test. I haven't tested one myself, so if my explanation was hard to understand, just go to your Honda dealer and ask the service manager for you to look at his manual. It shows pictures of this test in great detail.

That's all I got.

My buddy was suposed to get me a manual for it but hasn't yet. I got back on the quad tonight there are 3 yellow wires coming from the stator. These wires when I splice into them with the quad running give me approx 6 volts each. Does this sound right? I really wish I had the manual here. If I have the stator out if faulty by wednesday I can have it rebuilt and back by friday. I really don't want to pull the stator unless I absolutely have to. I also need to buy a better multimeter any suggestions? I am stumped I'm still not sure it's the stator. I'm also getting 4 volts a peice at the regulator. Guy's this is bugging the **** out of me.
Anyway thanks for your help again you have been great as usual.

You don't check for volts because it will vary with any engine RPM.

You need to get that manual before taking it apart or run it down to your dealer for a test.

It will solve both your current and future headaches.
