Extended Warranties on Rancher
#1
Hello to All,
Put money down on a Orange Rancher ES 4x4 tonight. Love the color. Test rode it at the dealership. Now I know what you guys are talking about. Big Smiles )
The dealer did give me the option of extending my Honda warranty with a 1,2 or 3 year add on. Prices were: $340, $400, and $479 respectfully.
Do you feel it's worth it? Did you get one, which one and what was the price? The roughest duty I plan to put mine through is plowing snow. Honda's have great reputations, hence my questions.
Thanks Again!

I bought the 3 yr. extended warranty on my 2000 Foreman 450 ES for $370. They tried to sell it to me for $475 but I called around and found that my dealer was trying to make $100 off me.
Anyway, I'm canceling mine because it doesn't cover squat. My ball joints and front bearings went out at 450 miles-the warranty didn't cover it because this was considered normal wear-they wanted $300 to fix. At 520 miles my wife snapped the rear u-joint which in turn bent the output shaft coming from the engine. This requires complete disasseble of the engine. Honda did not want to cover this either and that it would cost as much as $2000 to fix.
Needless to say, I purchased all the parts from Service Honda for under $300 (2 knuckle assemblies, 2 ball joints, rear yolk assembly, output shaft, gaskets and seals) and fixed everything myself.

Thanks for the reply YamaHonda. I'm going to get the exact details of what is and isn't covered. Your point is good. Usually Honda machines don't break unless pushed too far or if accidents happen. And then, the warranty coverage won't be valid anyway. I'll probably keep the $3/400 and save it for a rainy day.

Yamahonda,I feel bad for you.You really got ripped on your extended warrenty.I have a 4yr extended warrenty on my Sportsman and it covers all the parts that you mentioned broke on your quad.I understand that it should'nt cover replacement parts such as brake pads ect.My tie rods were loose on the Sportsman, they covered it all.I read my warrenty BEFORE I purchased it though.Anyhow,I wish you better luck with the 4x4 in the future.=====BILL
