Hi everybody,

New to the group and to ATVing, so go easy on me here guys!

I've pretty much decided to purchase a new Rancher 4X4 ES late this winter or early next spring. However, one of it's main chores will be plowing my 50 yard long dirt driveway. My son has a King Quad and plow's his equally long driveway with no problems. He usually plows in low range in 2nd and 3rd gear. The Rancher doesn't have Hi and Low range. Is this a disadvantage with the Rancher (Hondas)? Will the Rancher still be able to handle the job?

Here in NE Pa. where I live we usually don't get to many "bad" snowstorms and I don't expect the bike to plow 15 inches of snow. However, I do want a machine that will handle those pesky 2 to 8 inch snowstorms.

I realize the Rancher is a new machine and few will have any experience plowing with it. However, maybe some of you with the 300/350's can relay your input.

For all it's other uses, pleasure riding etc., the Rancher seems to fit my requirements perfectly.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks again,
Bassman

The Suzuki King Quad needs all those gears to handle the lack of power from the motor. The Rancher will have no problem since first gear is pretty low, plus the engine has a lot more power. By the way, does your son's King Quad's front wheels ever freeze up?

Honda atvs like many other atvs have a super low first gear. If 2nd gear wont handle the plowing I know in most cases that first gear will. I have no experience plowing but I do know that the rancher is supposed to be alot more powerful than the 300. I cant wait till the 500 rubicon comes out though. Talk about a workhorse

Thanks for the info guys.

Rooster;
My son has had his King Quad over a year and hasn't had any problems! A couple of his buddies have King's and they love them. He's been riding now for about 15 years and has seen all kinds of machines and based his decision on what he's has seen and experienced. He also told me that several of the guys that he rides with have Honda's and they also love their machines and have little or no trouble with them. He told me that I probably won't go wrong with any of the machines I'm considering (also considering the QuadRunner) Just seems to be a matter of preference.

Thanks again,
Bassman

Go with the rancher, it will plow with no prob's and it MUCH more fun to ride than a Q runner. My friend has a quad runner and it is so rough rideing, and those funkey shifting ***** get out of adjustment easly.
my 2 cents
