Hey fellas,

I own a 2001 rubicon and have loved riding it for over a year now. My problem is a trashed engine skid plate. The stocker isn't holding up and I need some advise about aftermarket. Who has the best for the best price? Does plastic hold up as well or should I stick with steel/aluminum? Any advice would be appreciated.

I went with the High Lifter one. It has a little door you take off in order to access your oil filter. Man I wish Honda didnt put it down there.

I feel our pain TexMud. The worst part of an oil change is dealing with the skid plates, espescially if they're trashed. Thanks for the advice, Highlifter looked like the nicest one.

Yeah trying to balance both those skids and line them up while on your back under the quad isnt easy at all. I did that a few times and never want to do it again.

There's one available from Motovan, it's called Maniax, by Perfex. In canadian dollar it is $135.00, it's a steel plate, 12G (0.105&quot in two parts. In USA, in about a month, Tucker Rocky will have the QuadBoss plate, same thing as Perfex but in stainless steel, at about $100.00.

aroostook, I think you're talking about the one from Maier. That's what I have on my Rubicon, and it has held up real well. I just got done giving a thorough test over some good size rocks yesterday, and it did just fine. For the money, you can't beat the protection.
