ok now i went to park my atv on a hill today after riding and i did the exact same thing as i usually do, which is turn off my atv and put it into 1st gear(facing down hill) or reverse(facing up hill ) now usually the atv will lock the back wheels and stay still. however today, the atv tried to roll down the hill, my question is, what did i break? the atv shifts fine through all gears and the clutch is fine, so what would cause the atv to roll down hill and loose engine breaking?

thanks
mike

Only clutch slippage can cause that. You would know if you had stripped gears in the trans.
