Hey
I have a 98 300ex,i got a used carbartor form a atv salvage and when i got it home i took it apart and cleaned it up real good. the problem is hat it feels like im hittng rev limiter at 3/4 throttal, i have had it to my local honda shop sever times, the first time they said the valves was adjusted to tight and said they had fixed it so when i got home i tried it out it did the same thing. so then i figred it was running to rich so i called honda back and asked them what was the stock main jet size they told me it was a 120, so i took off the carb and it had a 122 in it so i put a 120 in it. it still does the sam thing. so then i replaced the cdi box like honda suggested what i should do. and it still does it. But the strande thing is that after the eingine gets hott in clears up some but not all the way. icalled the honda shop back and they said they have never heard of one doin this, so i came to yall any and all help will be greatly appreciated. sorry about the confusin paragraph im not that good at it LOL.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

Choke system working right? You can ride a 300EX all day with the choke half on and never know it till 3/4 throtle.

Not trying to insult you, just checking.

Don't know if this will help but is the air filter dirty? Is the seals good around the carb?

Are you still running the airbox lid and stock exhaust????

Most 300EXs will not run past 3/4 throttle if the airbox is removed with stock jetting. Same goes for the exhaust in some cases.

What mods have you done??

hey,
lol yes my choke lever does work, and my airfilter is clean and the seals are good. The only mod i have is a cobra 3 inch exaust but it done the same thing befor i got it ( got it about a week ago) all of this has been goin on for a long time and everywhere i take it nobody knows.( i am running my air box lid)

hhmmm i had a 300 ex and with exhaust pipe i was running a 130 main jet. are you running stock sprockets or have you changed them.and make sure the reverse rev limiter isn't causing the problem.

Yes! Check the electrical connections and make sure they're clean. I've seen this problem with Warriors and 300EXs; the rev limiter connections get dirty and cause this problem.
If you have a pipe/muffler, you should be able to run the .122 main jet with no problems, but you also need to open up the air box to take advantage of the pipe mod. Air in/air out.

Okay- im just bored, but- whats with your sig redriderr? A "350 cam that makes 400 hp???" what the He!! does that mean?

hey,
ok i found out what it was, it is the reverse rev limiter i can hit it then push the reverse lever down and then i can wind out all the way but i have to hold it their, sonn as i lift my hand off it slws me down about 10mph lol so do yall know what i need to fix it. and my vette well was my vette i just traded it off for a truck and havent changed my sig yet lol but anyway it had 400hp with all those modds listed i kinda didnt word that right i guess (but when do i do ) sorry lol its surrposed to be 350 cam and it puts out 400hp(the whole car).
