I have a 86 250-R atc and the 3rd gear went out in it and alot of the dogs was worn, so i have been calling atv junk yards trying to find a used transmission to put in mine. But no one had one. so i was going to buy 3rd,4th and all the washers and circlips for about 300.00 at the honda store. Untill one of my race buddies called me and said that he new some one who had a whole bottom in that he would give me if i bought him some 100 over vito pistons. It sounded to good to be true. so we made the swap, the case on one side had bondo on it and the fly wheel cover was bursted up and that is all. It still had all the internal parts every thing else was in good condition. So i took the transmission out put it in mine and it shifts like a dream. but i do not know what model it is, the engine numbers are TBO6F, how can i find out what model that is.

I checked and there isn't a code "TB06F" listed by Honda, BUT there is a "TB06E" listed which designates it as being an ATC250R engine. Maybe you should double check that "F". It should be an "E"
The year model depends on the numbers that come after the code. You didn't give the number part of it, but I'll give you the numbers to determine it yourself.
1985
TB06E-2400001_
1986
TB06E-2500001_
Only the 2nd digit from the left in the engine serial number determines the year model.
