I think by that statement they were trying to show that they had stronger pieces than other manufacturers. It's kind of like what they did with the 700. They had pictures and captions showing all of the heavy duty pieces on the bike. They compared them to the smaller troubled parts of the others. They tried to take the pieces that were known problems on other bikes and make them bigger and better for thiers. Whether they work or not we'll have to see.

Polaris gets their engines from FUJI Heavy Industries not Suzuki. Whether the Predator's engine comes from FUJI or not who knows. For as fast as you ride I think the Sportsman would be more in line for you than the Predator anyway. For reliability who knows. The Raptor had a lot of problems when it came out hopefully the Predator doesn't. Polaris learned something from that by the looks of it. They high lighted things on their site like the high strength axle and other features that you usually have to buy as after market. If the engine is like the current 500HO then it will be rock solid. We'll just have to wait and see how it works out.

FUJI, thanks Colorado... Shows how much I know about Polaris. Either way, I knew they didn't build thier own engines. For as fast as I ride huh....???? Funny guy!

Actually, I am not a fan of Polaris because of the CVT and MacPhereson struts the Predator will be a departure form that so it should be interesting to see how it performs. I would own one if it's performance was up to par. It would make sense to base the engine of the 500HO since that is a proven engine - just tune it for sport quad use is all.

<< .............I think you guyes that say the EX is only good for kids and women are just trying to rub the EX guyes(and Honda) the wrong way. Take the D\S, Raptor, Z, and EX, there isn't 10 mph diff or 4or5 bike lenghts differance. If your kids or women can "handle" the 400EX, there is ablolutely no reason they can't handle the others, if they can't, they don't need to be on the EX, maybe a 300EX. But don't let me get in the way of your B.S..............

ps, For the guyes that keep saying "faster, faster, more HP, more HP", what do you want? A light quad with 50+ HP with plenty of bottom torque. OR A quad like a Dale that will turn 12,000+ rpm, 50+ Hp, with a power curve like a 2-stroke? Which one!!!
>>

Actually, there is a lot more difference between the 400ex sport quad and other high performance quads. First, 10 MPH isn't an indication of power really. The high performance machines will put about a 20 MPH whooping on the ex if geared up a notch and/or piped. The 400ex will get a few HP and maybe a couple MPH out of a pipe and/or gearing. Even stock the power difference is more than top speed - it's acceleration and the ability to control that extra power.

I'm one of the fast5er, faster guys. I wouldn't want either of the options you mentioned. 50 HP wouldn't be enough - make it 60 or 70 and I'll be OK for a while until I get bored with that.

One thing to think about people is this: Woods and trails riders care less about HP and speed than duners or desert riders. Did you ever notice that the East coast people like the 400ex a lot more than the West coast guys? Thats becasue out West we do a lot of duning and high speed/high HP type of riding. How many Basnhees do you seen in the woods out East? Not many. Out West the places are crawling with Banshees.

Well guess what, I'm from the East. Maybe those bad **** R's and banshees don't like it here in the East cause there ain't enough differance between any of them around here to get excited about. (Stock.)

Anyway, your right about the power thing, after you go through the gears a couple of times, they just seem to get slower and slower. Sucks doesn't it!!!

Maybe we will get lucky soon, seems to be a stir in the sport quad market lately.

Later...

Maybe ripitup doesn't work for polaris. Instead he works for that marketing agency for Polaris that came up with the predator website.

Why is it always the people that don't show there profiles, or new people to the boards who post topics like this topic?

Well, whatever ripitup does or works or whatever, one thing is for certain - he is a liar and not a very good one at that. One day he is in Wisconsin on his 400ex, next thing you know he is in the midwest somewhere and after that he is in New York on his Raptor. Gee, if you're going to lie keep your stories straight.

I hope Polaris or the Marketing firm or the Burger King he works at reads this; maybe they'll fire him.

That maybe a little harsh. Maybe he is testing quads for a company in different environments around the country?

bbertram. Well, maybe saying it is a LITTLE harsh but the fact remains. Ripitup is posting these "stories" and I am guessing the only reason he is doing it is to either A) make himself look important even though he hasn't really seen this machine in action or B)to drum up some free (hyped-up a little maybe???) publicity for Polaris.

Either way, he is deceiving us and has not taken the time to come here and explain himself.

Hey Wyo. Your right you will find women on 400ex's but are you insinuating that because i am a girl and i ride a honda 400ex that i can't run with the big boys or that my bike is not capable of running with the big boys? Thats what makes it fun when I throw a beat'n on a Banshee!

P.S. I can't beat every Banshee but you better be packin' more than your listin' when you come lookin' for me!

P.S. Not flamin' you but please don't flame my ride!

P.S. I agree with you on Ripitup. But seriously you hurt my feelings with your comments about 400ex's
